For the past six years New Jersey’s own Francie Moon has been standing proudly in a class all their own. Led by Melissa Lucciola, their mix of soul, folk, country twang, garage punk, and psych pop is brilliantly unique, bolstered by the undeniable strength of Lucciola’s vocal howls and melodic swells. Her voice is something special, a gloriously commanding presence that sounds as new and uncommon as it does worn in and retro. The band are running free, creating concise songs that are beholden to no genre expectations, embracing rock music and let their wandering freak-soul come spilling out. Known to be one of those incredible live bands that make instant die-hard fans, Francie Moon will release a new record, All The Same, on September 21st via King Pizza Records (Banana, Mad Doctors, They Royal They).
Having already share the sultry blues of “Dear Love” earlier this week, the fun continues today with “Feel All The Feelings,” the record’s second single and ragged centerpiece. Built on a dusty twang and an intricate syncopated rhythm, we’re treated to lush and airy slow burner, a song that leans on the folkiest elements of Francie Moon’s sound while remaining throughly rock. Lucciola’s voice has a natural yearn to it, calling out with passionate yelps as they work toward a breaking point, slowly pushing forward until it’s time to damn well rock. Even at their most contemplative of tempos and gentle strums, the band come alive thanks to clever melodies and a knack for writing natural, earnest, garage soul hits.
