Faux Ferocious - "Price of Progress" Video | Post-Trash Premiere

by Dan Goldin (@post_trash_)

Nashville kraut-punk stalwarts Faux Ferocious released their third full length, Pretty Groovy, earlier this year via Burger Records, another exceptional dose of stoned to the bones motorik psych and jittery punk. The band’s sound is raw yet clean, a spaced out odyssey of sleek grooves and relentless drive. It’s a sound that’s time tested yet inherently unique, a south fried retro futurism with twang and skate punk resolve. Having been at since the turn of the decade, the band have continued to build a buzz through engaging live shows and records that get tighter upon each listen. The band have worked with Infinity Cat, Drop Medium, and the aforementioned Burger Records and their next release is coming courtesy of Danger Mouse’s 30th Century Records (Autolux, Karen O, Daniele Luppi & Parquet Courts, etc) though details remain mysterious. It’s a great fit for the band sonically and we’re excited to hear what comes next.

Before we get there however, the band have announced European/UK tour dates and Faux Ferocious are sharing the video for “Price of Progress,” one of Pretty Groovy’s finest moments. With a massive hypnotic rhythmic pulse, the band do what they do best, get spicy over a locked in beat. There’s plenty of slacker melodic lines and guitars that sputter around for texture, everything evolving together with the inescapable churning groove. The video captures a montage of electricity, quite literally, with clips of electric poles, cable wires, power boxes, cranes, and the construction workers who operate them.
