It’s an increasing rarity and a little bit of an oddity when a band has little to no social media presence. You begin to wonder if it’s a deliberate choice to disengage with the norm of music promotion in 2019 or if it’s for a different reason. All that’s left is for you to engage the music on its own terms without any of the typical positioning an artist chooses to frame a release under.
Whatever the reason, Quiet Moves makes their introduction plenty clear on their debut EP We’ll Understand When We’re Older. It’s emo revival that's aged a little bit. The intro of “Esteban Was Eaten” could have easily have fit on Topshelf Records circa 2011. There’s some restraint at other times, pulling a song back to explore other avenues for songwriting like in the title track. The pop comes through clearly throughout the entire EP. Certain guitar lines or vocal inflections will crawl their way into your subconscious. Take a listen below and decide for yourself.
