Its been three years since we've heard from Stamford, CT garage pop quartet Jacques le Coque, but the band are set to release Positively... via Brooklyn's King Pizza Records (The Royal They, The Rizzos, The Mad Doctors) in early October. Their sound captures the same territory of care-free bubblegum pop weirdness as early King Tuff and Nobunny, writing songs that are concise, jangly, and maybe just a little freaky.
The record's first single and opening track, "Getaway Car," is lo-fi but brash in it's classic rock 'n' roll charm. The vocals snarl just a little bit but it's the vibrant melodies and whip-smart garage pop simplicity that radiantly transforms their penchant for writing 60's power-pop songs to something that feels fresh and exciting. With several extended guitar solos and a hook you'll never escape, it's a promising start to the band's first full-length in three years.
