Back in early February we had the honor to premiere Giving Up's most recent album, the idiosyncratic punk treasure, Garner Cardinals. That record only gets better with every listen, it's twitchy nuances engraining themselves deeper and their free-form art-pop bliss shining brighter repeat after repeat. The rough hewn jangle plays well with their Midwestern roots, their sound balanced somewhere between reckless and brilliant. Set to head out on the road this Summer, the band are sharing a new video for "April Showers".
The video, perfect for the upcoming return of Spring or Summer (depending on where you live and if seasons still exist), captures the Iowa based trio enjoying the great outdoors in lush wooded areas, big trees, hammocks, toadstools, and all. They perform some music, see a snake, and offer an appreciation for the simpler pleasures that come from not living in a major city... y'know, nature. "April Showers" permeates with slow synth lines and jangly guitars creating a loose bed for the harmonies, both tight and gleefully detached. Go see them live, you'll be glad you did.
