Glued - "Eyes Forward" | Post-Trash Exclusive Premiere

by Dan Goldin (@post_trash_)

It's been less than two months since St. Louis' Glued released their debut EP I, but surprise (!), the band are back in record timing with II, due out next Friday, May 12th via Pack Rat Records and Float Away, Dangling. The band's wonky brand of post-hardcore and shoegaze swirls together into a thick fuzzy commotion throughout the both EPs, recalling Midwestern legends like Shiner, Silworm, and a dash of (non-Midwesterners) Enon's art rock dexterity. Alternating vocals between Chelsi Webster and Sean Ballard, Glued dive deep into the vortex, blending layered guitars and earworm melodies into a hazy fog that's simultaneously dreamy and aggressive.

"Eyes Forward" opens with jittery drum intro that echoes as though it were coming from the end of a long tunnel and a sinewy guitar line that snakes in between the beats. As the spiraling vocal/guitar melody kicks in, the raw production lends itself to the eager rhythm and woven guitars, pushing and pulling with a sense of unease and a gloriously swollen hook. The band floats through a wall of shoegaze distortion with a grainy focus and a loose spacey resolve. Check out the band's upcoming East Coast tour dates below as well as local St. Louis Cinco De Mayo Festival that falls on the 6th of May.
