Brooklyn garage punk trio The Mad Doctors are getting ready to release their sophomore album, No Waves, Just Sharks, on April 14th via King Pizza Records. It's an energetic record of twisted surf rock, harsh fuzz, distorted pop songs, and good debaucherous fun, sounding something like the bastard child of Man or Astro-Man? and Personal and the Pizzas. The band are clearly having a great time making their brand of scuzzy punk and home grown b-movie interludes and its infectious throughout their new record.
"Lord of Garbage" welcomes you to "a world of filth, a world where dirty children run wild" before The Mad Doctors dive into a tornado riff and tight interlocked rhythms like the soundtrack to a brutal shark attack... just when you thought it was safe to get back in the water. The guitars bleed with space echo fuzz and a dizzying melody that's as dark as it is dense. "Lord of Garbage" is a triumphantly sludgy trash anthem, both in spirit and sound, the tone quickly set as Seth Applebaum (vocals/guitar) declares, "Am I the most vile thing that you ever seen? it's my cloud of filth fucking up your squeaky clean". Vermin, sewers, rust, filth... generally smelling like shit... these things don't concern the "Lord of Garbage". It's the grease and grime you've been waiting for.
The Mad Doctor's No Waves, Just Sharks is out April 14th on King Pizza Records. The band will be out on tour in support of the album kicking off with their Brooklyn release show.
