Nashville's Datenight have been burning the candle at both ends over the past few years with a steady stream of albums, EPs, singles, videos, and tours. They stay busy and they stay hungry. The lo-fi punk trio have a knack for filthy pop tunes, the type best heard in a dank basement or sleazy bar. Following up this Spring's Datenight Does Dallas EP, the band team up once again with Drop Medium Records for a new split with label mates and damaged art-punk pals Spodee Boy on October 20th. With two new songs on the split ("Another Thing To Do" and "Too Good"), Datenight continue to refine their blown out rock 'n' roll scuzz in rapid succession; a pair of earworms just shy of the three and half minute mark.

"Another Thing To Do" opens with a bang, a fuzzy riff of guitar shredding bliss and the band waste no time diving right in. Blistering with youthful abandon and thick bass riffs, you immediately get the impression that Datenight keep as busy as they do simply to avoid teenage boredom. There's always something else to be done, but it's better that way. Playing jangly punk and shouting along together in their basement is the best of options, and well, they have really hit the snotty-pop-rippers sweet spot. As ragged and riotous as it is catchy and concise, "Another Thing To Do" is an infectious convergence of agitation and raw hooks.

Of course, the band are heading back out on the road. Dates and cities below, ask a punk for details.
