Six months after the very sold out cassette release of Heather The Jerk’s latest album, Scroll If You Love Devil, the record is getting reissued on vinyl together with an expanded set of songs. Due out August 27th via MPLS LTD, the LP edition features four new tracks, serving up another heaping of garage punk heaters, lo-fi rippers, and a boisterous sense of ear-splitting joy. Heather Sawyer (The Hussy, Proud Parents) tears from one massive hook to the next, shredding on guitar, bass, and drums while her vocals rattle around sweetly inside your head. It’s got all the charisma of power-pop with all the reckless disdain of punk, leaving a trail of smiles in the process. As a fixture of Wisconsin’s DIY punk scene for nearly two decades, Sawyer continues to push her songwriting forward, moving between budget rock burners and jangly repetition. The more time you spend with Scroll If You Love Devil, the better it gets, and now we have four more songs.
Following the release of “Write A Letter” last month, we’re excited to share the premiere of “Hello,” the project’s new single, a song as simple as it is brilliant. Much like pure bottled sunshine, Heather The Jerk has captured something radiant and powerful, a jangly anthem for “simple greetings” as she describes it. Speaking about the song, Heather said, “I tried to make the melody catchy” and holy moly did she succeed. Brash and impossibly fun, “Hello” is a bright spot in dark times.
