Pardoner are back. Today, Post-Trash is thrilled to premiere “Twisted,” the killer lead single from their forthcoming LP Target Practice.
“Twisted” is the first taste of no frills Pardoner. On their latest, the San Francisco outfit aim for their “Heavenly Pop Hit™” with playful concision and sharp songwriting. Gone are the band’s inessential stylistic shifts; present are the sub-three minute winners. Target Practice’s lead single cuts to the chase, racing to a wailing chorus that marries the band’s jangle and shoegaze into a more perfect union.
There are a lot of fun moments on their new record that are as serious as they are sardonic. Pardoner’s lyrics are filled with critique, mordant but clever lines exhibiting an justifiably jaded social and self-awareness. “Twisted” may not be Pardoner’s “Heavenly Pop Hit™,” but their upcoming record is brimming with melodic ascension.
