Consensus Madness - "Superfund" | Post-Trash Premiere

by Dan Goldin (@paintingwithdan)

There’s a palpable sense of energy and grit that collides in each of Consensus Madnesssongs. You could feel it pulsating throughout their self-titled EP back in 2023, and it feels all the more caustic on the band’s first full length, Endeavors. Due out June 30th via Iron Lung Records (Alien Nosejob, Diät, Fake Dust), the Chicago based quartet dart through serrated hooks and buzzsaw riffs, bulldozing past the bullshit with a raw enthusiasm. Blending together aspects of blistering hardcore, garage punk, and paint peeling post-punk, the band attack like a tornado at close range, sweeping us over with dizzying dexterity.

Following the release of the album’s lead single, “New Bag (Money),” Consensus Madness are back it with “Superfund,” taking aim at the government’s general lack of concern for our environment. The song stampedes forward on an overdriven riff and a brash rhythm, calling out the devious attempts to turn contaminated areas into new and hip neighborhoods through endless funding. As the band shout “these acts of man, I swear to god, real bang up job” you can feel the sarcasm dripping out the speakers, it only they weren’t raging so hard.
