It’s been a genuine pleasure to hear All Feels evolve since the project’s earliest recordings. What started as Candace Clement’s (Bunny’s A Swine, Footings) solo bedroom pop project eventually progressed to a full band affair, opting for a wider scope of sound, incorporating disparate influences from both explorative pop and more dissonant left-field sources. After a few years of scattered EPs and singles, All Feels are set to release This Place Is A Message, the band’s full length debut on October 4th via Flower Sounds (The Fruit Trees, Bobbie, The Lentils). The band, comprised of Clement, Will Meyer (Stoner Will & the Narks, Bucket), Jon Shina (ICICL), and Josh Levy (who has since been replaced by Noah Dowd), have a great chemistry, there’s a noticeable spark of electricity that brings the songs to life.
Recorded by Western MA’s own Justin Pizzoferrato (Krill, Dinosaur Jr, Speedy Ortiz, Pixies, Jobber), “Possessed,” the album’s lead single is built on crackling distortion and radiant melodies. From the song’s immediate burst of sweetened hooks and the fuzzy scrape of the guitars, Clement and co. give an earnest emotional performance, raw and slightly rattled, but pressed with meaning, a colorful look at aging and how things change over time. There’s plenty of surging guitars, tight rhythms, and sweltering pop heat to go around. All Feels channel in something familiar but dig just beneath the surface to create something that feels endearingly unique to Clement’s writing.
Speaking about the track, Clement shared:
“‘Possessed’ is a coming of age bop for the elder millennial crowd — a 90s inspired reflection on growing older and growing out of the things you once loved and the often unbreakable connections we have to habits we try to shake.”
