Flower Festival is the solo project of Phoenix-based musician Micah Dailey. On his third full-length album, Age, released on January 24, 2024, via Moone Records and Anxiety Blanket Records, Dailey molds together a sonically cohesive and thematic album that captures two distinct moments of his life that spanned eight years. He revisited the album with new ears, an appreciation for what came before him, and a newfound peace with his past. With a collection of lo-fi tracks, Dailey has cradled us with a warm blanket, offering an inside look at his journey to finding peace within.
The fourth song of the record, “Behave,” featuring Lonna Kelley of Giant Sand, is accompanied by a music video by Phoenix-based visual artist Kenaim. The videos offer a montage of beautiful, familiar scenes that quickly evolve and morph into one another effortlessly. The video visualizes going through constant change within yourself, which is attributed to Flower Festival's internal journey to peace. The visuals reflect the process of this album, which took ten years for Dailey to finish, letting go of internal and external pressures and ideas of your older self and letting things happen without constraints to let them shift into what they should naturally, even if you aren’t sure what that will look or sound like. The music video symbolizes Flower Festival, the enjoyment of the process, and seeing where it may take you despite how long it may take.
