To celebrate 15 years as a label, Tor Johnson Records are set to release Closer To The Grave: 15 Years Of Tor Johnson Records on July 28th, a compilation of previously unreleased and rare music from their artists (Aneurysm, Late Bloomer, Death To Tyrants, etc). Running an independent record label isn't easy, and one dedicated to heavy music is truly a labor love, so 15 years is most definitely something to celebrate... and celebrate we shall with the premiere of Aneurysm's earth-quaking new single "She's Drugs".
The Boston quintet have built a reputation over the past few years for their annihilating mix of grunge, deranged noise rock, punk, sludge, and thick menacing distortion. Raw and unpolished, Aneurysm rely on brute force and the spirit of rock 'n' roll at its filthiest throughout "She's Drugs," a song with big riffs and colossal bellowing from frontman Mike McGee (ex-The_Network). Taking aim at police racism, brutality, and corruption, the band wind massive riffs around a pummeling rhythm, with McGee coming unglued in a fit of desperate rage. Aneurysm lay waste to the boys in blue, howling "we got an officer down" with sinister glee.
Closer To The Grave: 15 Years Of Tor Johnson Records is out July 28th via Tor Johnson Records. The label will celebrate their anniversary and the compilation on July 29th at AS220 in Providence, Rhode Island.
